One small move → A whole new direction.
I’ve been thinking a lot about trim tabs lately.
Those tiny tabs on the back of a ship’s rudder or an airplane’s wings - that–despite their size–create enough pressure to move the entire craft in a new direction.
It’s not the rudder alone.
It’s the trim tab that enables the rudder to shift
And the rudder that then shifts the ship.
This is how change works.
Not just in engineering, but in our lives.
In our leadership.
In our health.
In our homes.
Fifteen years ago, I committed to two minutes of meditation a day.
Just two.
That tiny pause in the morning became a practice.
That practice became a lifeline.
And eventually, it rewired my brain, reshaped how I show up–and became central to the work I now teach.
That’s the power of a trim tab.
We think it has to be a full overhaul.
A new job. A total reset. A breakthrough.
But the shift you’re craving?
It often starts with something so small it barely registers–
Until everything changes.
Because just like that little tab on the rudder–it’s not about the size of the effort.
It’s about where it’s placed.
And whether it’s anchored in intention.
So let me ask:
What’s your trim tab this week?
A deep breath before replying.
A thought you choose not to follow
A food that fuels your clarity
A 10-minute pause between meetings
A boundary set with love
A letter to someone who matters
A bedtime that supports your future self
These aren’t small.
They’re strategic.
They’re powerful.
And when practiced consistently–they’re transformational.
This is the work I love most:
Helping people find their trim tabs–and anchor them.
In themselves.
In their organizations.
In their lives.
Whether I’m guiding a corporate team, facilitating a retreat, or working with one executive navigating real pressure–this is where we begin.
Because the science is clear:
We change best when we start small–
With intention.
With momentum.
And we sustain it when we pause long enough to feel it working.
So–
What’s your one small shift this week?
And if you’re ready to bring this kind of clarity and transformation to your team–I’d love to connect.
